Ruling on Spitting in the Direction of the Qiblah

Shaykh al-Albaanee said,

“It is prohibited to spit facing the Qiblah absolutely, regardless of whether it is in the mosque or other than it; and this prohibition applies to the person praying and the one not praying as stated by as-San’aanee in Subulus-Salaam (1/230). Imaam An-Nawawee asserted authoritatively that such is prohibited in all situation: during Salaah or outside the Salaah, in the mosque or other than it. This is the correct view based on the reported ahaadeeth concerning the prohibition.[1]
