Drinking the Remaining Water of Ablution

 al-Husayn bin 'Alee, narrated:

"My father 'Alee called me to bring (water for) ablution, so I brought it to him, and he started by washing his hands three times, before putting them into his water for ablution. Then he rinsed his mouth three times and sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times. Then he washed his face three times, then his right hand up to the elbow three times, then his left likewise. Then he wiped his head once, then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left likewise.

Then he stood up and said: 'Pass me the vessel.' So I passed the vessel containing the remaining water for his ablution to him, and he drank from it standing. I was amazed. When he noticed that, he said: 'Do not be surprised, for I saw your father the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), doing the like of what you have seen me doing.' referring to his ablution and drinking the leftover water while standing.” Recorded by an-Nasaa'ee and classed as saheeh by Shaykh Muqbil.

Accepting Christmas Gifts

Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-'Uthaymeen said:

Some scholars are of the view that it is not permissible to accept their gift during their festivals because that is a sign of being pleased with it. Other scholars opined that there is nothing wrong in collecting it. Nevertheless, if there is no sharee’ah prohibition in accepting it – such as if the giver of the gift believes that you are pleased with what they are upon – there is no harm in accepting it otherwise it is better not to accept it.

Why We Must Vote

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on elections, and he replied: I think that elections are obligatory; we should appoint the one who we think is good, because if the good people abstain, who will take their place? Evil people will take their place, or neutral people in whom there is neither good nor evil, but they follow everyone who makes noise. So we have no choice but to choose those who we think are fit.

If someone were to say: We chose someone but most of the parliament are not like that,

We say: It does not matter. If Allaah blesses this one person and enables him to speak the truth in this parliament, he will undoubtedly have an effect. But what we need is to be sincere towards Allaah and the problem is that we rely too much on physical means and we do not listen to what Allaah says. So nominate the one who you think is good, and put your trust in Allaah.
