Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-'Uthaymeen said:
Some scholars are
of the view that it is not permissible to accept their gift during their
festivals because that is a sign of being pleased with it. Other scholars opined that there is nothing wrong in collecting it. Nevertheless,
if there is no sharee’ah prohibition in accepting it – such as if the giver of
the gift believes that you are pleased with what they are upon – there is no
harm in accepting it otherwise it is better not to accept it.
